Before starting the cleaning process, be sure to turn off the power to the air conditioner unit. This is important for your safety and will help prevent any damage to the unit.

Step 1: Turn off the power

Most air conditioners have filters that can be easily removed. You'll need to take them out to clean them properly. Refer to your owner's manual for instructions on how to remove them from your specific model. Once you've removed the filters, clean them with warm water and mild soap or a specialized cleaner. Rinse them thoroughly and let them dry completely before reinserting them.

Step 2: Remove and clean the filters

Use a soft brush or cloth to clean the coils, which are typically located behind the filters. Be gentle to avoid damaging the coils. Similarly, clean the condenser fins, which are located on the outside of the air conditioner unit. Again, use a soft brush or cloth to gently clean them.

Step 3: Clean the coils and condenser fins

Remove any debris or dirt from the condenser unit located outside the home. You can use a garden hose to rinse it clean.

Step 4: Clean the condenser unit

Once everything is clean and dry, reinstall the filters in the air conditioner unit. Finally, turn the power back on and test the air conditioner to make sure it's working properly.

Step 5: Reinstall filters

Remember, it's important to clean your air conditioner regularly to keep it working efficiently and to prevent any potential health hazards caused by dirty air filters. The frequency of cleaning depends on usage and the environment, but generally, cleaning the air conditioner once every three months is recommended.
